We’re beginning another six weeks, folks! Can you
believe the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are just around the corner?! Wow,
this year is flying by fast. We have a lot of exciting things to learn third
six weeks. We’ll be talking about appeals, touch a little on persuasive
techniques, analyze some very relevant articles, and even do a small service
project just before the Thanksgiving holidays. It’s going to be chock full of
good information and some fun on the side.
So here is our topic for this week: service. No, I
am not talking about cell phone service or getting your car serviced. I am
talking about good, wholesome community service. In light of the upcoming
holidays and in the spirit of the season, we’re taking a small break from our
usual topics to discuss something every one of you should think about. The
dictionary defines service as “an act of helpful activity.” For the purpose of
this post, I want you to use that same definition.
The initial question: What type of service do you
offer to your school, community, or even your family? To answer the initial
question, I want you to consider the following sub-questions: 1) Are you
involved in your neighborhood, school, or community? If so, how? 2) Have you
ever volunteered for something outside of your home? If so, what was it and
what was your experience? 3) Do you think people as young as you or younger can
really make a difference in this world? Why or why not? 4) What types of
volunteer work would you be willing to do? Why would you choose those instead
of other opportunities? 5) Why do you think some people do not volunteer?
Yes I am involved with my neighborhood. We set up a big picture booth for kids to take their picture.NO, I had not .Yes they can help our world. They can recycle and reuse items.I would want to help save Wilde life. These animals are losing their homes.Animals need to be treated with care not like trash. They are to lazy or just not care about the animals.
ReplyDeleteWELL I DO BOYSCOUTS BUT NOT REALY ANYTHING ELSE. NO I HAVE NOT. YES PEOPLE WITH GOOD IDEAS AND INSPERATION CAN ACHIEVE ANYTHING. MY NEIGHBORHOOD DOESN'T REALLY HAVE ANY CLUBS OR GROUPS.
ReplyDeleteI am not involed in anything that has to dill with volunteering but I was apart of helping out in my church gain money for the ministery and I was helping my mom sell fireworks and I loved helping out. I think that younger people can make a diffrence in the world because they can help if they want or what they believe in. I want to volunteer in helping my mom with baking for other people and helping the homeless. I think people don't volunteer because they dont want to do any thing with the enviernment.
ReplyDeleteI would be willing to read in front of kindergartenerss. SOME people would be nervous because a lot of people looking at them. Kids my age in under my age would make a difference in reading the so they can help others to get a good educationon. I want to be involved so others can join in with me
ReplyDeleteI am into my neghberhood because I live near cops that are friends so i'm into my neghborhood. Yes I did I volunteered in boyscouts like teaching people how to use an bow and arrow. Yes because if you believen yourself you can accomplish anything. I will choose to mow other peoples lawn and help blind and old people acoss the street. I think other people don't like to volunteer is because they are probaly lazy because they don't like to volunteer but it is good to volunteer.
ReplyDeleteCduran: I'm not really involved in community survice but I will if its for my School. I've volentired for a softball game helper outside of school. I think people my age and younger can make a difference in their community by helping their communtiy look better. I would be willing to do any kind of community work oyside of school. I think some people dont volenteer because they are to lazy to help their community.
ReplyDeleteNo I haven't. No i haven't volunteered for nothing. Yes because that person loved what he was doing he would be good at it. AnimalShelter because i like animals (not all of them)
ReplyDeleteThe service I offer is sports.now I'm not sure if this is a service but I think it is. If it's not then I'm not really sure about anything else. But I love sports because I think this is why god put me here. Sports. But sports are my life and I cannot live without them. So really my service is sports.

ReplyDeleteWell I would love to volunteer for anything really, I do think children as young as me or even younger have the ability to make a difference. I also help out a lot in school and in my neighborhood. I think most of the people that don't volunteer are just maybe lazy, or do not realize how much they could help.
ReplyDeleteNo I am not.Yes I volunteered to play softball extra for a girl who was out!I like the type like sports,or helpful things.Yes I would choose sports for other opportunities. Some people volunteer to be helpful!
ReplyDeleteI have never volunteered for anything. I do help out at my church with things. I would like to volunteer at the animal shelter because I love dogs. I think people dont volunteer for anything because they are to wrapped up in there own lives.
